So... why talk about social media?? Before I started work with the Athens-based company Strong Girls LLC, I made sure to do my homework. I studied the company's social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, and Pintrest to fully realize their purpose. What drives Strong Girls? how do they interact with their environment? How are they trying to position themselves within the Athens community? As a service company that provides a safe space for girls to overcome issues related to low self esteem, Strong Girls had a powerful emotional appeal with their digital audience. Over the course of my time with Strong Girls, I was able to understand how their Social media tools helped connect people to their business. I saw how some social media efforts were effective in representing the company's purpose, while other posts fell short of their goal. My experience with Strong Girls sparked the question, "How important is it to provide an accurate representation of your company through social media?" My goal is to find the differences between a company's social media presence and their actual product, show how those differences help or hurt a business, and provide a solution to the challenges social media outlets present.
